The iconic chariot in the temple, houses Lord Garuda. It is said its wheels could once be turned!In 1940s, a tower above the chariot was demolished.

There are 56 granite pillars in the temple that when stuck produce musical notes. They would sound like cymbals, percussion and other musical instruments!

There are granite hooks at the corners of the roofs. These were used to hang oil lamps in the evenings! How spectacular the evening sky must have looked

The Vitthal idol of the temple was moved during the sack of Hampi in 1565. The idol has been recently discovered in a secret underground chamber of the Vithoba temple in Pandharpur.

The circum-ambulation path around the deity is pitch dark! But, sun light penetrates through small holes on the roof that reflect from water in channels on the ground lighting up the passage!
