The Amar Singh Gate is the main entry to the Fort named after Amar Singh Rathore, a Rajput noble of Shah Jahan. Amar Singh killed a Mughal Treasurer in the fort and escaped on horseback, leaving his mark on history. This gateway holds within its walls stories of courage and conflict, adding mystery to the Fort’s rich past.

The Tale of Roshanara and Aurangzeb-Roshanara, the ambitious sister of Aurangzeb, played a pivotal role in his rise to power. She later conspired to secure her regency in event of Aurangzeb's death. It is said she was poisoned and never seen again!

Mohammad Ghazni and the Somnath Temple Gate -  After Mahmud of Ghazni’s infamous raid on the Somnath Temple in 1026, he claimed to have taken the temple’s prized wooden gates. Later, British officials brought back those gates to Agra in 1842.

After building the magnificent Taj Mahal in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, Shah Jahan was held captive in Agra Fort for the last years of his life. From his confinement, he gazed upon the Taj Mahal every day through a small marble window in the Musamman Burj. Legend says that he died with the vision of his beloved’s resting place in his heart.
