By Air: Ascending to the Mountains

The fastest way to reach Kullu is by Air. Kullu-Manali Airport (KUU), also called Bhuntar Airport, is around 10 km away from the town of Kullu. Kullu has daily flights to and from Delhi, so it is very convenient. Kullu is serviced by flights from Air India and SpiceJet, and the trip from Delhi to the Kullu takes approximately one hour.
If in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore or Chennai, you will have to take a flight to Delhi and then take a connecting flight to Kullu. Traveling from Delhi to Pathankot by train takes approximately 10 to 12 hours, giving you the best chance to see India change by the minute.
From Kullu, you can take a taxi or a bus once you reach your train station. The journey itself is an adventure with winding roads and breathtaking views to marvel at throughout the drive.

By Road: The Road Trip Of Your Dreams

For all the road warriors out there, the way from Delhi to Kullu can be a thrilling one! Approximate distance from Delhi is 500 kms, the time taken will be around 12 – 14hrs of driving. One such route that is popular is through NH44 and NH3 which pass through Manali and Mandi. Coming from Chandigarh, it is a 270 kilometers drive that takes usually 7-8 hours.
One option is to take a bus, as many travelers do, and several private- and state-run buses run from main cities such as Delhi, Chandigarh and Dharamshala to Kullu. One can also consider sleeper or semisleeper buses by Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) for a comfortable journey with an option of recliners to enjoy the stunning hydropower powerplants and valleys on the way.

From Other Major Cities To Kullu

Mumbai: Fly to Delhi, then onward flight to Kullu, or a train to Chandigarh and drive.
Hyderabad: Fly to Delhi, then on to Kullu, or try a train ride via Delhi.
Bangalore: Fly to Delhi and connect to Kullu, or take a train to Chandigarh.
Chennai: Fly to Delhi and onward to Kullu. Or take a train to Delhi and then a bus or taxi to Kullu.
Trivandrum: Fly to Delhi and then take a connecting flight to Kullu; this will take a little longer, but the ride is definitely worth it.
Kolkata: Fly or travel on an overnight train to Delhi, then transfer to Kullu.
Bhubaneswar: Fly to Delhi, then Kullu, or the train route through Delhi.
