During our trip to Hampi and Badami, we stayed at the Hotel Krishna Heritage for a night. There were some choices, and we were quite concerned if we would have a good stay, especially given the online reviews for certain hotels did not work out well.

However, we had a great stay at the hotel. The staff was friendly. The rooms were exceptionally spacious, clean and well equipped.

The stay was for 1 night.

Our overall rating (4.5 / 5)

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Awesome, great stay!

Location

The location is well suited from the perspective of nearness to important tourist places. The property is situation nearly on the main road – just that there is a large empty stretch of land between the road and the hotel. So, your vehicle will have to travel a couple hundred meters over the empty stretch to reach the hotel.

Nearness to tourist sites (4.5/5)

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

The hotel is situated at about 3.1 kms from the famous Agastya lake. This lake is the center of tourist attractions in Badami.

The Badami cave temples, the Badami fort trek, Bhootnath temple are all located around this 5th century man-made lake!

So, distance wise the hotel is well situation from the perspective of nearness to important places to see.

Food (4.5 / 5)

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

The food of the hotel was again well prepared, well served and efficiently served. This despite the fact that the kitchen seemed short staffed.

We encountered a relatively rude waiter on the second / last day of our stay. However, in the overall scheme of things, the food, preparation, serving and quality were all quite good.

Rooms (5/5)

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I must stay with the constraints of our budget, the rooms were spacious, clean, and beyond expectations. They were well equipped. The staff was friendly to show us around a few rooms before we decided on the specific room to stay.

The only minor drawback could be that sometimes the large size of a room may render an AC ineffective. Do check that the AC is working fine. If it does, then it is perhaps one of the best rooms to avail!

Bathrooms (5/5)

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The bathrooms were nearly royal! Large, spacious, clean with well maintained plumbing. They had an open shower just outside the bathroom towards the back too. Of course we did not use it – but, the space and luxury of the setup was simply amazing!

Staff Help (4/5)

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Do not get me wrong. The staff were helpful.

Just that they could have been a bit more proactive. For example, they could not provide room service for food items. Though I believe because they were short staffed. And, I did not particularly mind having to go to the restaurant for food. A bit of very short walk does not hurt!

Flexibility (5/5)

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The staff was superb in this regard. We changed our reservation from 2 to 1 day on account of the heat wave. The staff was supportive.

We were going for sightseeing early in the morning at around 6 AM when the breakfast was not being prepared. They offered to pack breakfast without a word of complaint.

We wanted further flexibility on the checkout and they were very accommodating.

Overall, full marks to the staff for empathazing with the guest!

FAQs

Does the hotel serve breakfast?

Yes! They start at 7 in the morning.

Is the swimming pool open?

While the hotel has a swimming pool at the back end of the property, we did not have an occassion to use it. The swimming pool is open.

Which tourist attractions are located nearby?

The Agastya Lake cluster of monuments is at about 3 kms from the hotel! It will take you about 10-15 mins to reach the place. You must visit the Agastya Lake, the Badami Cave temples here, the Bhootnath temple and do the Fort Trek here.

Do note however, that the entry road to the lake becomes progressively lower. Though do note, that vehicles do go till the end. Just that the roads can be cramped if you taking large 4 wheelers.

Better to get some advise from folks there.

Is there a good restaurant within the hotel?

Yes, there is! There is one restaurant which generally serves pretty good food.

Are there rooms with private bathrooms?

Yes, the rooms have large, private bathrooms. The bathrooms are very spacious and well maintained.

Is there parking space for my vehicle?

The parking space within the hotel property is limited. It could be that they will have your car parked in the adjacent land that is present just outside the main gate of the property.

The hotel staff clarified the open space was the hotel’s property, and so it was okay to park there.

What are the check-in check-out timings?

If you are booking through an online portal, then the check in-checkout times are fixed. Based on Internet research it seems to be 2 PM check-in – 12 noon check-out.

However if you are booking directly with the hotel, then you get a 24 hour stay window from the time you checked in. So if you checked in at 5 PM in the evening, then your checkout is next day 5 PM.

This came as a real life saver for us since we were traveling in the second half of the day and wanted late check ins / check outs.

Overall Experience

The overall stay at the Krishna Heritage hotel in Badami was great. The rooms, bathrooms and amenities were fantastic. The distance to Agastya lake is also just about 3 kms making the stay and travel easy, simple.
