Day 1: Temple Trail
Best to start the day early. Hampi has a warm to hot climate. The earlier you start the day, the easier it will be.
The Virupaksha Temple entrance is adjacent to the Hampi Bazaar. And there are a number of temples located in walkable nearness.
Especially, remember to visit the Hemakuta Hill, Viththala Temple, Narasimha Statue. If possible do visit the Royal Enclosure (Hazara Rama Temple).
In the evening, climb up Matanga Hill for breathtaking panoramic views of the Hampi ruins and the surrounding countryside. Enjoy the sunset while perched on top of the hill.
Day 2: Kishkindha Trek
The northern side of the Tungabhadra river lies the legendary land of Kishkandha. The birthplace of Lord Hanuman is situated on the top of the Anjaneyadri Hill that is a 575 step climb.
You may take a ferry across the Tungabhadra or take a vehicle over road. A temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman and Rama sits on the top.
On the way you come across the Pampa Sarovar where Hanuman met Lord Rama as per the Ramayana.
After descending the steps, explore the village of Anegundi, known for its street art, cafes, and shops selling souvenirs. You can also try your hand at coracle rides, a traditional round boat made of woven bamboo, on the Tungabhadra River.
In the evening, head back to Hampi and spend some time browsing through the Hampi Bazaar, a vibrant market selling handicrafts, clothes, and souvenirs. Enjoy a delicious local meal at one of the many restaurants or cafes in Hampi.
